Projects: A book proposal for Fearsome Fauna, a book about tapeworms and some other of our internal companions is looking for a publisher. A paper about a long term study of forest litter decomposition is in press, and the salmon are beginning their early fall run in Lake Michigan. The bass boat purchased from the Biology Department before we left Decorah has been named the "Troll" and sports a painting of a genuine Norwegian troll on its side. It has provided us with all the lake trout we need, but has yet to boat a salmon.

Outlook: Life is good in northern Michigan, and although the long time natives think we are crazy for feeling this way, we are looking forward to another quiet winter in the snowy north!
