Necrodes surinamensis is a common species of carrion beetle that has been collected in Winneshiek, Howard, Allamakee, and Fayette Counties in June and July. This species is attracted especially to rotten chicken, but has also been collected in low numbers with dead fish, beef liver, and dead piglets.
