Oiceoptoma novaboracense is a common species of carrion beetle that is active in Allamakee, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek Counties in June, July, and August. This species is attracted especially to rotten chicken and beef liver, but has also been collected in low numbers with dead fish and piglets.
